Pflegeferrari – Where Foreign Languages Meet Vocational Lessons

CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) involves using a foreign language in different subjects outside of language classes. The 2AFW students got to experience such a lesson: First Aid in English!

Together with their teachers, they explored how to communicate in emergency situations with people who don’t speak German. From initial conversations with patients in the emergency room using the SAMPLE method to filling in gap texts about unconscious people in various situations, the students were able to showcase and improve not only their first aid expertise but also their language skills. So, whether they are international students at Innsbruck’s various universities or tourists exploring our beautiful state capital, anyone who is injured here will receive professional and empathetic treatment from our future care assistants — even in English!
